This question cannot be answered in one sentence. The light intensity your plants need varies depending on their life stage:

You should choose a lamp that can deliver at least 1000 µmol/m²/s and ideally be dimmed to 300 µmol/m²/s. If you think you’ll need different lamps for this, consider adding a dimmer – such as the stepless mini-dimmer from HortiOne. This allows you to cover all life stages of your cannabis plants with a single LED grow light.
How many lights do I need for my grow room?
Depending on your grow tent's size and the light output of your LED grow light, you can calculate how many lights you’ll need. Start by noting:
- The area of your grow room in square meters
- The output of your LED grow light in µmol/s
Now, you can calculate the required number of lamps. We recommend using the maximum required light level of about 1000 µmol/m²/s. This is the total PPFD you’ll need throughout the grow cycle. First, calculate the required light output of the lamp to achieve the total PPFD:
Total PPFD = 1000 µmol/m²/s × area in m²
You’ll now have a value in µmol/s, which is the total amount of light needed to illuminate your grow room with 1000 µmol/m²/s. You could buy a single lamp capable of producing this amount of light. If you opt for multiple lamps, you can calculate the required number based on this value:
Number of lamps = required light output in µmol/s ÷ light output of a single lamp in µmol/s
